HUNDREDS of children gathered for a colourful fun run in Eastleigh.
Up to 750 youngsters gathered at Fleming Park Leisure Centre yesterday before setting off on a 2km course around the fields.
The promise of receiving Olympicstyle ‘gold’ medals was enough to motivate the budding athletes as they split into two age groups for the run.
After completing the 2,012-metre course, they were handed their prize as well as a special T-shirt.
Earlier in the day, thousands of runners set off for the B&Q Eastleigh 10K in a record turnout.
More than 2,000 people completed the race, raising thousands of pounds for Age Concern Eastleigh and HCPT group 170 – a charity that takes children with disabilities and special needs on a pilgrimage to Lourdes.
