Daily Echo prepares for Celebrity SunWalk

THE trainers are primed and ready to go. A team from the Daily Echo is the latest to sign up for the first Celebrity SunWalk to be held in Southampton next month.

Training is under way as the team of seven, led by editor Ian Murray, prepare for the event that will see scores of people walk their way around the city.

Mr Murray said: “This is a great event for the city to host and one that the Daily Echo fully supports. We will be among those limbering up on the start line for what I am sure will be a terrific fundraising event.”

The Celebrity SunWalk on April 24, which takes participants on either a 5km or 10km route, is being organised by the Walk the Walk charity that raises money for breast cancer charities.

Celebrity makeover pair Colin and Justin will start the walk from Mayflower Park, which will also provide the backdrop for the official naming ceremony of Celebrity Cruises latest ship Celebrity Eclipse later in the day.

Places are still available for the walk.

Pictured with editor Ian Murray are, from left: Sian Davies, Chrissy Barrow, Melanie Adams, Tara Russell, Jenny Makin and Clare Kennedy.

Colin and Justin? Celebrities? I must turn up to that!! Oh poo, I've just remembered. I'm having my eye cut open without anaesthetic at that time and I'd much rather go to that. If these are the best 'celebrities' that Southampton can muster then the petty cash tin must be fairly empty.
