And remember, it's not just adults who can sign up for the challenge; The Celebrity SunWalk taking place in Southampton on April 24 is sponsored by Celebrity Cruises and is a real family day for all ages. |

Entries are open online now on www.walkthewalk.org and lots more will be revealed in the coming weeks. Registration forms are also available at various gyms and leisure centres around the city.

Gearing up for the SunWalk

THE COUNTDOWN is on.
In less than a week hundreds of walkers will be pounding the pavements as The Celebrity SunWalk 2010 comes to Southampton.
On Saturday Mayflower Park will be transformed into a carnival of entertainment and colour while the power walkers get ready to complete either a 5km or 10km route around the city centre.
Joining the walkers and volunteers will be a whole host of celebrities, sports stars and entertainers all helping gear the walkers up to complete the SunWalk, sponsored by Celebrity cruises and backed by the Daily Echo.
As the event’s official MCs, cheeky TV decorating duo Colin and Justin will be on hand to ensure everyone is looking fabulous in their decorated bras.
Joining them will be Wave 105 presenter Simon Clarke while disability sports ambassador Geoff Holt will also be lending his support.
Musical entertainment will be provided by the legendary Jocelyn Brown and Marcella Detroit.
Brand new Celebrity Cruises ship Celebrity Eclipse will provide the magnificent backdrop for the finish line and the ship’s official naming ceremony will take place in the afternoon, with Southampton skipper Emma Pontin as the Godmother.
Nina Barough, founder and chief executive of Walk the Walk, said: “This is the first time that Walk the Walk have held The SunWalk challenge in Southampton and the response and support we have received from the local community and beyond has been just amazing.”
The Celebrity SunWalk opens at 9am with the walkers setting off at 11am.
