Co-op inspires charity donations
LESSONS in saving the planet are being taught at an early age in Southampton schools thanks to a charitable donation.
The Co-operative's community fund stumped up £1,000 to the Winchester-based Hampshire Development Education Centre for its work making pupils more globally aware. Nine schools will be learning about energy use, recycling and Fairtrade to see how their decisions affect others throughout the world.
The grant forms part of the Co-operative's profit sharing scheme which allows members to donate their pay-outs to worthy causes.
