Emma has been hugely successful and determined to go and get what she wants. I knew her when she first began her sailing career, which has grown in strength with everything she has done.

She is hugely organised, great with people and has a tremendous strength of character.

This strength grew even further when she fought the battle against breast cancer. Her focus was to recover and by sheer determination and using the goal of growing back her hair in time for her wedding day, she triumphed.

I was really chuffed she agreed to run with Team Caffari in the Southampton Race for Life last year.

Typically, everyone that runs with us has experienced cancer through a friend or relative and running with Emma who was still battling the disease humbled us all.

Each year I have participated, I have found the event very emotional and all the more so when Emma joined us.

I am proud of Emma's strength and hope that between us we can encourage more and more people to support this great charity.

Cancer Research UK does so much for so many and the Race for Life is a fantastic event for people to engage and participate - whatever their level of fitness."
