To prove how achievable Race for Life really is, Jade Goody’s close friend Kevin Adams has completed the 5k route himself – wearing 6in stilettos.
The stunt was part of Cancer Research UK’s “In her shoes” event – a chance for men to show their support for Race for Life.
Fourteen men – led by personal trainer Kevin and actor Christopher Biggins – donned skyscraper heels for the empathy walk around London’s Regents Park in a light-hearted but touching tribute to the inspirational women in their lives.
Kevin said: “Jade’s passing has affected so many people and with so much needing to be done to beat cancer, Race for Life is a great way for all women to get involved and raise money to support the important work of Cancer Research UK.
“If I can do it wearing leopard-print high heels then anyone can do it! I just hope the ladies of Southampton take part this year – take some friends, take a nice drink and a sandwich and go and have some fun.”
Christopher Biggins added: “I’ve just lost two of my closest friends to cancer and my father is currently undergoing treatment for bowel cancer.
“I’m no stranger to squeezing into a pair of high heels but it’s nice to do it this time to show support for every woman who is helping raise vital funds to help beat cancer by taking part in this year’s Race for Life.”
Now in its 16th series, Race for Life is the UK’s largest women-only fundraising event.
