DO NOT be alarmed if you see a group of ladies dashing around the shops a little faster than usual – it’s probably Team WestQuay training for this year’s Race for Life.
The seven ladies, pictured, – who all work for the shopping centre’s management team – are taking part in the 5km event on Southampton Common in July.
Team leader Nicky Bromley is dedicating her Race for Life to her brave grandma Betty, who recently underwent chemotherapy.
Colleague Gina Picariello was inspired to dust of her running shoes after witnessing her mum’s successful battle with lymphoma.
“So many of us have been touched by cancer so we decided to put a whole team together,” said Nicky. “ Walking the malls – using WestQuay’s special ‘Shop for Life’ map – is already proving to be a great training regime.
“It’s amazing to realise just how much exercise you can do during a short shopping trip,” said Nicky.
Race for Life is on Southampton Common on July 12. To download WestQuay’s Shop for Life training map, visit ificandoit.org.
