A MAN is in hospital with stab wounds after a fight in a Southampton street.

Police were called to Wharf Road in Woolston at around 8am following several reports from concerned residents that an angry row was going on.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a number of people in nearby Defender Road.

A 24-year-old Southampton man was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment to stab wounds to his back.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Three people – a 24-year-old man and two 17-year-old youths, all from Southampton – have been arrested and were this afternoon being questioned by police.

Detectives have sealed off an area around the Defender Road and Wharf Road as scenes of crime specialists hunt for potential clues.

Police are talking to residents living nearby, but are keen to hear from any witnesses or anyone with information about the stabbing.
