CHILDREN are being targeted by a man committing indecent acts in a car, it was revealed today.

Police are warning parents after a driver wearing just a shirt was spotted “behaving indecently” by a 14-year-old boy and a friend outside a Southampton chip shop.

Officers believe similar activity has been witnessed before in the Coxford area, but not reported to police.

The 14-year-old said he and a friend saw the man acting inappropriately while they were standing outside a takeaway on Coxford Road at around 6.30pm last Tuesday.

They walked around the corner, but the car - a two-door blue or green vehicle - followed them.

The teenagers realised the driver, who is described as a slim white man in his early twenties who has short hair, was only wearing a shirt.

PC Stewart Forrester said he wants parents to warn youngsters about the incident, and wants help tracking down the man.

He said: “We want parents to take whatever action they think is appropriate to make their children aware of this man and the car. We now understand that the activity has been seen before, but it has not been reported to the police.

“Ideally, we would urge anyone who sees such activity to get a vehicle registration number and report it to the police.”

Anyone who sees the vehicle or indecent behaviour in a similar car should call PC Forrester at Southampton Central on 101.

This headline seems a bit more alarming than needed. He happened to be spotted by children, it doesn't necessarily mean he waited until children were around or went somewhere knowing he would be seen by children.

Seriously I agree, the headline is a bit misleading... but extremely worrying for these kids if the car followed them. Shame they didn't note the Reg??
