HAMPSHIRE'S so-called “naked rambler” is to stand trial again next year, after being arrested for refusing to put his clothes on.

Stephen Gough, from Eastleigh, was represented in his absence in court after being told he could not appear nude in the dock.

The 53-year-old father-of-two was released from prison in Scotland in October, after spending most of the last six years behind bars over his public nudity.

But the former marine was arrested in Oxfordshire on December 4 as he attempted to walk back to Hampshire naked.

He was yesterday due at Oxford Crown Court, charged with outraging public decency.

But he was represented in his absence after he was refused permission to appear without clothes on.

A provisional trial date has been set for June 3, but Gough is due back before the court for a plea and directions hearing on February 20.
