AN armed forces charity is warning people to be on the lookout for conmen after a man tried to obtain cash from Romsey residents.

The fraudster claimed he was doing a parachute jump to help raise money for Wiltshire-based Help for Heroes charity and tried to get people at the town’s Tadburn Green to sponsor him.

Police were alerted after one resident queried where he lived and he gave false information.

Anyone with information about the conman is asked to call PC Francis at Romsey police on 101.
