TWO hooded thugs forced their way into a Southampton home and held a terrified family at knifepoint.

They staged their attack at a terraced house in Windermere Avenue, Millbrook, at 10pm on Tuesday.

The pair knocked on the door before forcing their way inside and threatening a 46-year-old man, a 52-year-old woman and a 13-year-old boy with a knife.

They made off with a sage containing a substantial amount of cash, electrical items and documents.

Both men are white, in their early 20s, and about 5ft 11ins tall.

One wore a blue hooded top while his accomplice wore a grey hooded top.

Detective Constable Kate Gillingham said: “This was an ordeal for the family, “We are urgently seeking suspects and potential witnesses.

“We particularly want to hear from anyone who saw two young men carrying a sage in the Windermere Avenue area between 10pm and 10.30pm.”

*Police have arrested a 16-year-old youth on suspicion of aggravated burglary and a17-year-old boy on suspicion of conspiracy to burgle.

Both have been bailed pending further enquiries until March 7.
