DETECTIVES leading the hunt for the murderer of Hampshire mum Pennie Davis have revealed they believe she may have been followed to the field in the New Forest where she was killed.

A week on from the horrific murder officers believe it is possible Pennie may have been followed from where she worked to the field where she tended her horses.

The 47-year-old mum of five from Blackfield was found in the paddock near Beaulieu that afternoon. She had died from multiple stab wounds.

The appeal comes as the charity Crimestoppers announced they had put up a reward of £5,000 for anyone who gives information that leads to the arrest of the murderer. So far Hampshire police have dealt with 230 calls and messages from the public in connection with the appeal.

Police now say they want to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anyone acting suspiciously around the Sainsbury's supermarket on Hampton Lane, Blackfield, where Pennie worked between 1pm and 3pm on Tuesday September 2.

They would also like to hear from anyone who saw Pennie's dark green Toyota Land Cruiser travelling between the supermarket and the field at Leygreen Farm between those times.

Detective Superintendent Paul Barton said: “It's been a week since Pennie was murdered and in that time we've made significant progress with more than 200 officers and staff working on the investigation.

“We're continuing to follow up several lines of enquiry and I'm really grateful to everyone who has called in with information. Since the start of the appeal we've received more than 230 messages from the public.

“Pennie had recently starting renting out the field but not many people were aware of that. One of our lines of enquiry therefore is the possibility she was followed from Blackfield Sainsbury's, where she'd been working that morning, to the paddock by Leygreen Farm.

“I'd ask anyone with information, no matter how small or insignificant you think it may be, to contact us.”

The Crimestoppers charity announced this morning that it would be putting up the reward of £5,000 for anyone who contacts them with vital information. They can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111 To contact the Operation Biscotti investigation team directly call Hampshire police on 101.
