A MAN was rushed to hospital last night after he was attacked in the early hours of this morning.

Residents at a block of flats in Shirley, Southampton, woke up to find several police cars and forensic units camped outside their homes and doorsteps stained with blood.

Some in Selby Place reported that they were awoken by a man shouting he had been stabbed at around 2am An ambulance crew was also spotted at the scene and residents said a man was treated and taken to hospital.

The details of his injuries are not known but neighbours believe that the man has since returned home.

One resident said: “I woke up to lots of shouting and this guy was running around outside. Before I knew it the police were here with a meat wagon and the ambulance turned up soon after.

“I woke up again at 6.30am and there were two policemen guarding the scene and it was taped off. I went out and by the time I got back there were loads of police all over the place.”
