A SAFE containting jewellery, passports and cash was stolen after homes were targeted by burglars.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after four burglaries and an attempted burglary in the Highlands Road area of Fareham.

They happened during the afternoon and early evening of Saturday.

Burglars forced they way into one home in Friars Pond Road, Catisfield, between 3.15pm and 8.15pm.

Two homes were broken into in East Lodge, Catisfield, between 11am and 6.30pm.

The suspects then fled with the safe from a house in Argyle Crescent in the Frosthole Crescent area between 11.30pm and 7.30pm.

Det Con Heather Hudson, from Fareham CID, said: "Full details of what was stolen are unknown at this time but it is thought the offenders were targeting cash and jewellery.

 

"If you saw anything suspicious in the area I would urge you to contact police as it may help us to find those responsible.

"Please visit the crime prevention section of the Hampshire Constabulary website for information on how you can protect your homes during the short winter days."
