A DAD fears he may lose his new job after his company car became the target of a string of attacks at his family home.

Desperate to catch those who have been repeatedly smashing the windows of his car, the car sales manager from Woolston, Southampton, set up CCTV at his home and caught the latest attack on camera.

Now he hopes the footage will help identify the man, who can be seen using a small hammer to smash almost all of the windows of the Audi A6 saloon parked on the driveway, before fleeing into the darkness.

The dad-of-two, who does not want to be named, first had his car windows smashed in September, just a few weeks after starting his new job.

Having lived in Rothschild Close for ten years he initially assumed it was a childish prank but, just a month later, it |happened again.

On both occasions his wife’s and his daughter’s cars, which were also parked on the drive, were left unscathed, leading police to believe that he was being targeted.

Fearing the costly repairs and inconvenience of having to use different company cars while his windows are replaced may see him lose his job the 48-year-old took action to set up various security measures, including CCTV.

The footage shows a silver Mondeo drive past the house twice before a hooded man in a duffle coat and baggy jeans is seen walking up to the car and smashing almost all of the windows with a small hammer.

Daily Echo:

As the car alarm sounds and the owner comes to the window to see what is happening the vandal runs off before he gets the chance to smash the windscreen.

The dad-of-two, who has thanked his neighbours for their support through the ordeal, said: “I felt sick when I saw the CCTV footage. I know I am being targeted but I have no idea why. It could end up with me losing my job.

“Like any father or husband I want to protect my family. How long before these people turn on the house and hurt somebody?”

PC Charlie Higgins from the Bitterne Neighbourhood Policing team urged anyone with information to call him on 101.
