A CITY centre park was closed off by police this morning, following a serious sexual assault.
Officers from Hampshire Police taped off Houndwell Park, at the rear of Primark, as they carry out their investigations.
The children's play area was sealed off by officers and a cordon has been set up within the area.
Detectives are investigating a report of a serious sexual assault which happened in the early hours of this morning.
The victim, a 20-year-old woman, reported that she was attacked between 2am and 3.30am. She is currently being supported by specialist officers.
A 25-year-old man from Brighton has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently being questioned by police.
An officer wearing a white mask and purple gloves was taking photographs close to the slide in the park.
Two officers were standing guard while members of the public tried to see what is going on.
Officers are reassuring members of the public that this is not a stranger attack and those involved know each other.
It is being treated as an isolated incident.
