A WOMAN was knocked to the floor after being attacked in Southampton.

Police are hunting the 27-year-old's assailant, who struck when she was walking along Lovers Walk off Burgess Road.

The unknown man attacked her between 9.20 and 9.30pm on Monday, causing her to fall to the floor.

The victim was not injured in the attack.

Detectives investigating the assault have described the man as white, in his 40s and with black hair.

He was wearing a black hooded top with white lettering across the chest and blue jeans.

Detective Constable Mark Bradley from Western CID said: β€œI would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who saw a man matching the description of the suspect in the area.

β€œIt is believed that during the incident someone cycled past and someone else walked past and these people may have witnessed the assault.”
