A MAN has been detained after allegedly assaulting a bar woman who was throwing him out for being abusive to other customers.
The 20-year-old woman felt threatened and was pushed by the offender.
Now police are appealing for information about a public order incident at a pub in Bembridge on Monday evening.
A 58-year-old man from Ryde was arrested on suspicion of assault and using threatening or abusive or insulting words or behaviour. He was bailed until April 1 pending further police enquiries.
PC Samantha Barry said: “This was an isolated incident in this usually peaceful village pub. I am appealing for witnesses to the offender’s demeanour, both before and during this incident, to come forward.”
It happened sometime between 7.20pm and 8pm (March 16), a female member of staff was put in fear of violence by a man she was trying to eject following abusive language towards other customers.
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Barry at Newport police station on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
