POLICE are cracking down on crime in Hampshire’s beauty spots after a catalogue of thefts.

Operation Falcon will see more officers on the beat in rural areas.

Police will focus on a different aspect of rural crime each month, which will be selected based on seasonal trends.

The campaign was launched by officers speaking to people about how to avoid being targeted by thieves stealing from cars parked at Hampshire’s beauty spots.

They visited the New Forest, Test Valley, Hart and Winchester, rural Basingstoke and East Hampshire.

It comes after 500 thefts from vehicles in the county’s countryside in the past three years.
