POLICE are investigating an alleged assault on a county councillor during the ministerial visit.
Andy Moore, pictured, Hampshire County councillor for Eastleigh East, said he had gone to the police after he says he was assaulted while demonstrating holding a UKIP sign during transport minister Patrick McLoughlin’s visit at around noon yesterday.
He claimed a sign was knocked out of his hand hitting his stomach while he was outside Eastleigh railway station.
A Hampshire police spokeman said: “We can confirm that while attending an event outside Eastleigh railway station a man aged in his 50s has reported being assaulted by another man. Further inquiries are due to be made.”
