A WOMAN was targeted in a late night attack that saw her hit on the head by two hooded thieves trying to steal her mobile phone.

The 28-year-old was walking along Grantham Road, close to Parnell Road in Eastleigh, when she was approached by a man and a woman who viciously hit her on the head.

The pair then tried to steal her phone and her handbag but she was able to fend them off and the pair fled empty handed.

Fortunately the victim was not injured in the attack.

The man is described as being white, in his late 20’s and wearing dark clothing, including a black hoodie.

The woman is described as being in her late 20’s and was also wearing a black hoodie.

Officers are now urging people to avoid walking alone late at night.

Anyone with information about the attack, which happened on May 17, between 11pm and midnight, should call Eastleigh police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
