A FORMER primary school teacher today appeared in court charged with more than 25 sexual offences against two children.

Lloyd Dennis, 32, faces 28 offences including rape of a boy under 13 and rape of a boy under 16, sexual assault by penetration and six counts of engaging a child in sexual activity.

He also faces charges of making and possessing indecent images of a child.

Dennis taught at a number of primary school across Hampshire before becoming a lecturer in health, social care and education at the Basingstoke College of Technology, Hants.

Evidence for the latter charges in regards to "pornographic and indecent images" was not served to defending lawyer David Lyons, who asked that the case was adjourned until the evidence was submitted.

Dennis, of Eastleigh, Hants, appeared in court for the ten minute hearing in a red checked shirt, and is set to face a four-day trial in September.

The adjournment of today's plea and case management hearing at Southampton Crown Court, where Dennis was expected to enter a plea, will not affect September's trial date.

The evidence relating to the indecent images charges must be submitted within two weeks with the preliminary hearing adjourned until Friday, July 24.

Judge Gary Burrell QC remanded Dennis in custody.

Dennis taught at a number of schools including Bishop's Waltham Junior School and Cadland Primary School in Holbury, on the outskirts of the New Forest, Hants.

All of the schools have been informed of his arrest and contacted by police.
