A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman in Southampton.
The 31-year-old man has been released on bail until October 26 pending further enquiries.
As reported by the Daily Echo, the 42-year-old woman was walking in Old Redbridge Road in Shirley when she was attacked from behind, pulled to the ground and sexually assaulted.
Detective Inspector John McGonigle said: “The victim has told us that she was approached from behind by a man, pulled to the ground and sexually assaulted.
“We need to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time and seen something or who may know anything about this incident.”
The incident took place at around 11pm on Sunday, July 5.
