A PENSIONER has been seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash.

The 88-year-old victim was driving a silver Saab in Winchester Road, Durley, when his car collided with a red Citroen C3, which left the scene before police arrived.

Emergency services had to cut the man free and he was taken to Southampton General Hospital with serious leg injuries.

The incident occurred at around 2pm on Sunday, July 26, and the scene was cordoned off for several hours for enquiries to take place.

Sgt Dave Sanderson said: "This collision was a horrible ordeal for this elderly couple.

"Failing to stop after a road accident of this nature is a very serious matter and we are very keen to find the driver of the Citroen as soon as possible."
