HAMPSHIRE Police have teamed up with other counties to crackdown on travelling criminals.
Officers teamed up with colleagues in Dorset and Wiltshire to stop suspicious vehicles when crossing county borders.
A total of 58 vehicles were stopped and two people were arrested – a 23-year-old from Bournemouth on suspicion of theft of a mobile phone and a 27-year-old man from Ringwood on suspicion of possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply. Both have been released on bail.
Six vehicles were seized for having no tax and/or insurance while eight fixed penalty notices were served for other traffic offences.
A number of other people were given warnings or had vehicle prohibitions for minor traffic offences.
Inspector Rachel Stokes, who led the operation, said: “This operation not only sends a clear message to those who target rural communities but it helps to reassure the rural community that we will work together to detect and deter criminals.”
