AN investigation has been launched after a takeaway driver was left with a fractured jaw after an assault in Hampshire.

The 37-year-old driver was in Devon Drive, Chandler’s Ford, at around 3.15am on Sunday (Sept 20) when a light blue car pulled up behind him.

A man got out of the vehicle and distracted the victim before demanding cash and assaulting him.

The delivery driver did not have any cash on him and the offender left the scene in his car in the direction of the M3 northbound.

The victim has since undergone an operation for a fractured jaw at Southampton General Hospital.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to get in contact.

Anyone with information should call DC Robert Cross at the Western Investigation Team based at Southampton on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
