TWO men forced their way into a man's home and attacked him, leaving him scared and shaken.

Hampshire Constabulary is appealing for people to come forward after the incident at the home of a 54-year-old man in Macarthur Crescent, in the Bitterne area of Southampton.

The incident happened at 9.30pm on Saturday, November 7 while the victim was at home.

The two men knocked on his door before they forced it open and entered the house and assaulted the victim.

The pair escaped with £200 cash and a mobile phone and the victim suffered a cut above his eye in the attack.

The offenders then forced entry to an adjoining property after 9.40pm and searched the address but it is believed nothing was stolen. A third man, described as white and wearing a dark grey or black hoodie, was also seen entering this address.

The first man is white, aged in his late 20s to early 30s, slim or medium build with dark stubble, he was wearing a black hoodie covering his head.

The second man is black, around 5ft 10ins, medium build, clean shaven with wavy black hair, he was wearing dark clothing.

Detective Constable Dal Andrews, said: “The victim has been left very scared and shaken by what has happened to him. We believe that this incident was a case of mistaken identity and that the offenders have gone to the wrong address.

"We would ask anyone who saw these men in the area, or may have heard any sounds of disturbance between 9.20pm and 9.45pm on Saturday evening, to contact us.

“As always, I would ask residents to be vigilant and to never answer the door to anyone who is asking to enter your home on the pretext of looking for another person at the address."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Southampton CID by calling 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
