TWO dogs have been stolen from a pub, leaving their owner devastated.

Landlord Paul Cooper went to feed his gundogs, Pinot and Smudge, only to find that they were gone and the kennels were open.

He rushed to check the garden and adjacent field, but the dogs were nowhere to be seen.

Paul, who is the landlord of the Parish Lantern pub in Whiteparish, says the dogs were last seen in the kennels about an hour before he went to feed them at 8.20pm.

He said: "The dogs were in their kennels at 6.45, then my son-in-law came in at 7.15. He saw the dogs in their kennels. I went out at 8.20pm to feed them and they'd gone.

"Someone left the pub at 8pm and the side gate from the private drive was open.

"So they were taken some time between 7.15 and 8.00pm."

He says the dogs never normally go far from the pub.

He said: "The dogs do sometimes go into the garden but they never go too far.

Daily Echo: Pinot

"The cocker is very friendly but the springer is nervous as hell. They would have had to drag her out of the kennel or pick her up to get her out."

Pinot is a black cocker spaniel bitch and is 3 years old, whilst Smudge is a one-year old liver and white English springer spaniel.

Paul has informed the police and the local dog warden.
