POLICE in Southampton are investigating a spate of house burglaries and shed break-ins.

The incidents have happened over the last few weeks and have been reported during school hours.

At the same time, police have also received a number of calls relating to a suspicious male knocking on doors in Southampton, who asks a quick question and then leaves soon after.

They believe he may be doing this to identify possible empty properties.

A police spokesperson said: “We are currently investigating a number of house burglaries and shed breaks that have occurred in your area over the last few weeks.

“A number of house burglaries have been reported during school hours and have possibly happened during the daily school runs.

“Please ensure all windows and doors are locked and secured every time you leave your house, especially on the school runs.”

“We have also received a number of calls relating to a suspicious male knocking on doors in the area, he has asked a quick question and then leaves soon after.

“We believe that he may be doing this to identify possible empty properties.”
