THREE female students chased a burglar out of their house in Southampton, police have said.

Officers have released an efit of the man suspected of stealing a watch, iPhone and the women's student IDs.

A man struck at around 5.40am on June 27 at a home in Tennyson Road, a popular student area near St Deny's station.

He was caught inside the property stealing a laptop from an upstairs bedroom.

The occupants chased him out but was able to steal the iPhone, IDs and a Fossil watch.

A laptop was also taken but was recovered a short time later further up the road.

The suspect is described as in his 20s, wearing dark tracksuit bottoms and top. He was also wearing a black hat.

Police staff investigator Elaine Rogers said: “We would also like to speak to a man who was in the area at the time and was spoken to by one of the students as she was out looking for the suspect in her car.

“He may have information that may help with our investigation. He is described as being white, of a skinny build, bald and was wearing a dark jacket. He was also carrying a black rucksack."

Police urged residents to secure their homes and close their ground floor windows.
