A WOULD-be-robber targeted a 19-year-old man as he walked through a Southampton nature spot.

The man was on a path in Peartree Green, in a wooded area behind Bryanston Road, when he felt someone grab his rucksack from behind.

The teenager turned around and lifted his arms, causing the thief to let go of his rucksack.

The victim managed to run away after a struggle which left a cut on his elbow.

Nothing was stolen during the incident, which happened between 1.30pm and 2pm on Friday.

The suspect is described as white, around 6ft 1ins tall and of average build.

He was wearing a black hooded top with the hood up and baggy black jeans.

Police investigator Samira Hosseinmardi said: “We would also like to take this opportunity to remind people to be vigilant and aware of your surroundings at all times and where possible, carry bags and belongings in front of you.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PSI Hosseinmardi on 101, quoting 44160264145, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
