A MAN was left with a serious head injury after an attack on a beach.
Police believe that items such as a pole and a beer keg were used as weapons in the attack on Appley Beach on the Isle of Wight.
The 26-year-old victim, a man from Ventnor, was with his girlfriend on the beach shortly before 00.30 on Tuesday when they were approached by a group of men and women following a music event.
The group then attacked the man, who is now recovering at home from his injuries.
Investigating officer DC Victoria Hayward said: "This is a very serious assault. If anyone recorded any footage of the assault on a mobile phone or saw what happened in the Appley beach area that evening, it could help to establish how many people were involved in this assault".
Police arrested two 17-year-old boys on suspicion of assault, and they have been bailed until October 17.
Anyone with information should contact Hampshire police on 101, quoting reference 44160268545.
