YOU wouldn't fall victim to a scam in a shopping centre...would you?

A campaign has been launched to challenge the perception of members of the public about how common scamming is.

Santander Bank has conducted research showing that a quarter of British adults have been the victim of a con, with the average victim losing more than £400.

It also discovered that 40 per cent of victims said they felt something suspicious was going on, but 17 per cent ignored their gut feeling.

A further 15 per cent said that with hindsight they should have noticed something was wrong.
