A HAMPSHIRE publican could be forced to cancel a dream holiday after burglars broke into her home and stole all her spending money.

Dee Langa, live-in manager at the Forest Inn, Ashurst, was devastated when she discovered that intruders had “trashed” the flat and made off with about £900 in sterling and euros.

The thieves are thought to have targeted her living quarters after failing in an attempt to raid the pub’s safe.

Dee was set fly out on May 20 but fears she will have to cancel her trip to the Greek island of Zakynthos, despite saving up for a year.

Now mum Helen Haines has launched a crowdfunding campaign in a bid save her daughter’s holiday.

Writing on social media she said: “Dee has a smile for every customer. Nothing is too much trouble for her and customer service is her top priority.

“During the break-in her living quarters were trashed and her holiday funds stolen – £900 which she’d worked so hard for.

“I don’t see why she should lose a well-deserved break through no fault of her own.

“This is the second time the Forest Inn has been burgled in two months. On both occasions Dee managed to open the doors to the public and greet everyone with a smile. Please help us give this girl the break she so deserves.”

Mrs Haines has already raised £90 – a tenth of the target.

One of the contributors, Dorothy O’Sullivan, said: “We can’t bear the thought of Dee not going away on her well-earned break because someone thinks they can just take from others.”

Dee, 26, was out when the thieves struck and returned home to find a scene of devastation.

She said: “They trashed my flat but the only thing they stole was the money I’d only just got for my holiday.

“There were clothes and shoes everywhere, the mattress on my bed had been tipped on its side and all the kitchen drawers were open.

“I felt violated when I discovered what had happened. The people responsible are sick and need to be caught.”

A police spokesman said a passing patrol heard the pub’s burglar alarm and discovered that the property had been broken into.

The popular watering hole was closed while officers investigated the break-in.

In a message posted on social media the Forest Inn said: “We’re working very closely with forensics to gather as much evidence as possible to catch the idiots who have done this.”
