A MAN has been charged with murder after a man was stabbed to death in a Hampshire town.
Armed police swooped on Scott Road, Eastleigh, in a late-night operation after Alex Woods, 22, was reported to have been seriously injured.
Emergency services tried to save him but he died of his injuries.
Officers made two arrests and Andi Leigh Edwards, 36, of Scott Road, has been charged with murder and will appear at Southampton Magistrates' Court tomorrow.
A 51-year-old woman from Eastleigh who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released from custody but remains under investigation.
As previously reported by the Daily Echo, police shot a dog during the chaotic incident broke out at about 11.30pm on Thursday.
Senior Investigating officer, Detective Superintendent Justin Norris said: "Incidents like this have a significant impact on people living in the area and I would like to thank the local community for their assistance.
"Residents will have seen officers carrying out house to house enquiries.
"We will continue to be in the area and members of the Neighbourhood Policing Team will be more than happy to speak to anyone if they have concerns relating to this activity."
