A FOUR-YEAR-OLD girl has been rushed to hospital after a hit-and-run crash in Southampton.

Emergency services were called to Denzil Avenue after reports that a silver Ford Focus hit the girl and drove away.

The girl suffered a broken leg and was taken to Southampton General Hospital after the crash, which happened at about 7.50pm on Thursday.

The car has a registration that ends UEN and was found dumped in Fanshawe Street, near Onslow Road.

PC Ian Bassett said: “We believe that when the silver Ford Focus left the scene it dropped off two people in Verulam Road a short time later.

“We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen this car driving around this area last night as you could have information that could really help our investigation.

“If you witnessed the incident or know who was in the car yesterday evening, then please get in touch with us – a young girl suffered a serious injury and we want to find the person who was driving that car.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to appeal to the driver of the car to come forward so that we can find out exactly what happened.”
