HUNDREDS of cannabis plants were found during a police raid on a property earlier this week.

Officers recovered around 300 cannabis plants when they executed a warrant at the address in King George Road, Andover.

Police have confirmed that a 37-year-old man found in the property was arrested on suspicion of the production of cannabis and later released with no further action.

He was also arrested on suspicion of an immigration offence and was handed over to Immigration Enforcement following the incident on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the Home Office has confirmed that Immigration Enforcement were contacted by Hampshire Police on Tuesday after officers attended an incident in King George Road.

The man arrested is a Vietnamese national who had entered the country illegally and he has been detained pending removal from the UK.

Enquiries are ongoing into the production of cannabis at the King George Road address along with investigations into what was found at the property.
