A BURGLAR who was tracked down after leaving blood in a house he ransacked has been jailed.

Joby Cooper, 25, broke into a house on Mossleigh Avenue, Southampton, by forcing a glass panel out of a window and stealing £7,000 worth of watches and jewellery from inside.

Cooper, of Hillyfields, Nursling, cut himself as he searched the house and left blood in a number of rooms during the raid, which happened between 4.30pm and 6pm on April 25.

He denied burglary but was found guilty by a jury at Southampton Crown Court and was jailed for three years.

Detective Constable Charlie Buckingham from the Operation Hawk Team at Southampton Central Police Station said: "We’re committed to identifying those who commit burglary and achieving justice for victims.

"Burglary is an intrusive and traumatic crime and we will stop at nothing in finding those responsible."
