POLICE are appealing for information after a shop worker was threatened with a sharp implement in Southampton.

Hampshire Constabulary have released CCTV stills of two men they want to question after a staff member was threatened as he tried to stop them stealing wine from the Co-op.

The two men went into the store on Romsey Road and tried to make off without paying for four wine boxes on September 30 at around 6.45pm.

When they were stopped by the shop worker one of them threatened to stab him with a small, thin sharp metal object that is described as looking like a knitting needle.

The men then cycled off from the store with the wine towards Tebourba Way.

One man is described as white and in his 30s. He was around 6ft tall and slim. He had short receding hair and was wearing a dark grey woollen look jacket and dark shoes and trousers.

The other man is described as in his 20s and white. He was around 6ft tall and of medium to stocky build. He had short cropped, dark brown hair and was wearing a dark blue raincoat and dark shoes and jeans.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: “We would ask anyone with information to come forward and please get in touch.”
