Basingstoke Magistrates Court
WINCHESTER man Daniel Kempster has been jailed for 11 weeks for assault and shoplifting.
Kempster, 35, of Staple Gardens, admitted stealing a pair of jeans valued at £30 from Debenhams on the High Street, and assaulting Simon Harris and PC Dean Lucas, all on April 30.
His conviction activated a suspended sentence imposed for shoplifting also from Debenhams.
He was also told to pay a £115 victim surcharge.
Only a few days earlier he had been fined for chucking a cup of hot chocolate at Basingstoke Police Station.
