A FUEL thief who stole more than £200 worth of petrol has been told to cough up £750 in fines, compensation and court costs.

Gavin Anthony Marsland targeted four BP petrol stations in Southampton and Fareham between July and September.

On three of those occasions, the 40-year-old stole more than £60 worth of petrol.

Marsland, of Wimpson Lane, Southampton, indicated a guilty plea to all four thefts.

He was ordered to pay back the £227 worth of fuel he stole, in compensation, and fined £100 for each theft.

Marsland must pay £85 in court costs and a £30 victim surcharge – a total of £752.
