WINCHESTER man Carl Philip Coles has been jailed for bank card fraud in Southampton.
Coles, 43, of Octavia Hill, Stanmore, was sent to prison for 20 weeks when he appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates Court.
The court heard that on January 12 Coles twice used a stolen bank card, belonging to Katherine Mayfield, in the Newsmaster store in Portswood Road, and another shop in the city.
He admitted both frauds and handling stolen goods, as well as breaching a suspended sentence imposed for stealing tea towels from Waterstone's book shop in Winchester.
The magistrates jailed him because of his persistent offending and similar crimes.
Coles was also ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge. but there was not order for compensation because he was sent to prison.
