POLICE have issued an E-fit of a teenager they want to speak two about two attempted robberies in Southampton on the same day.

The incidents, which occurred in Kent Road and Bond Road on April 8, both involved a boy aged 14-16 who was armed with a knife.

The first attempted robbery took place shortly before 3.30am.

A police spokesman said a boy followed a 25-year-old man along Kent Road and kept asking to see his phone.

He added: "The man was concerned he was going to be robbed and called police. At this point the boy pulled out a knife but then ran off towards St Denys Road.

"At 10.10pm that day a 47-year-old man was approached by a boy on Bond Road.

"The boy demanded he hand over his bag and phone and threatened him with a knife. The victim was able to fight the boy off without injury and without handing over any of his property."

Police are linking the two crimes and have released an E-fit based on a description given by the man targeted in the second incident.

The boy is described as white, aged 14-16, 5ft 11in, slim and clean shaven.

He was wearing a black or dark blue zip-up hoody and light grey, plain tracksuit bottoms, and was riding a mountain bike with a light grey frame.

PC Sharath Ranjan, from the Western Investigation Team, said: “We're keen to hear from anyone who witnessed either of these incidents, recognises this person being in the area at the time or knows him from this image.

“These incidents happened in the hours of darkness so we would remind those walking on their own late at night to stick to busy well-lit areas and keep valuables out of sight.

"Consider another way of getting home rather than walking on your own. Report anyone suspicious by calling 101 or 999, whichever is appropriate."

Anyone with information about the Kent Road and Bond Street incidents is asked to call 101 and quote crime reference number 44180129206.
