A MAN was found stabbed after a serious assault in Freemantle.
The 43-year-old sustained a wound to his chest following the attack, which took place in the afternoon on Monday on Nelson Road.
He was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment.
The man who assaulted the victim is described as being of mixed race or Asian, around 6ft tall, of a slim build and was wearing a grey tracksuit.
DS Emma Barrow said: "We believe that this was a targeted attack and are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened.
"Did you see anyone matching this description in the area that afternoon? Do you know who is responsible?"
Hampshire Constabulary confirmed the victim's injury was not life-threatening.
