A Southampton man with an ambition to become a professional ice hockey player was fined £500 for common assault following a late night incident near a fast food outlet.
Victim Louis Double was walking along Shirley Road, Southampton, when he was shoulder-barged by a passer by.
He carried on walking but then became aware of an approaching group.
Prosecutor Siobhan Linsley told the city crown court he was then punched by one of them, Mitchell Muray, in the face.
Murray told police Mr Double had been “mouthy” but he denied it. Murray, 19, of Foundry Lane, Southampton, admitted battery. He was of previous good character.
