OFFICERS investigating an armed raid on a home with a mother and baby inside have released descriptions of the gunmen.

The 35-year-old mum and her 11-month child were targeted by a pair of burglars brandishing a handgun.

After knocking at the door of her Testwood Lane home in Totton they barged their way in, punching the mother in the face.

The woman told police how she saw one of the men holding a gun, which was passed to his accomplice during the incident.

The pair, who were both dressed in grey hooded tops and high visibility vests, then fled with cash and an iPhone 4 mobile, which police believe may have been discarded in the New Forest area.

The woman was treated for a cut lip at hospital while the child was uninjured.

The first man is described as white, of slim build, with a pale complexion aged in his late teens or early 20s and wore a scarf covering part of his face.

The second man is described as white, of stocky build, with a tanned complexion and aged in his late 20s to early 30s. He also wore blue jeans and grey ‘walking style trainer boots’ Detective Inspector Fiona Bitters appealed for anyone who may have found an iPhone4 in the surrounding area to come forward and anyone who has any information about the white Transit van that was used.

Anyone with any information should call Southampton Central police station on 101 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
