Teenager attacked in Southampton's Riverside Park

A TEENAGER was left with a broken jaw after being attacked as he walked through a Southampton park.

The 19-year-old was with friends when they were confronted by a large group of youths in Riverside Park in Bitterne Park.

The victim was attacked from behind and punched in the face as he walked away.

He was later treated at Southampton General Hospital for his injuries.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the attack at around 10pm on Friday, or anyone with information, to come forward.

PC Andy Lucas who is investigating said: “"This was an unprovoked and cowardly attack on a young man. He was walking away from the offender at the time he was punched and sustained serious injuries.

The attacker is described as black, in his late teens, of slim build and was wearing a light blue tracksuit top.
