A MAN was hit with a beer bottle after refusing to hand over his mobile phone and money during an attempted robbery in a Southampton park.

The 25-year-old victim was approached by a teenager as he walked close to the cricket pavilion in Hoglands Park.

When he refused to comply and walked away the beer bottle was thrown at his |back.

The would-be robber is described as around 6ft and was wearing three-quarter length trousers and a red baseball cap.

He was of mixed race and was initially topless but later put on a dark coloured polo shirt.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police in Southampton on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
