Burglars take £2,000 worth of jewellery from home
THIEVES stole £2,000-worth of gold Thai jewellery and two laptop computers from a Southampton home.
Police believe the theft may be linked to a series of gold thefts, particularly of Indian jewellery.
The burglars got into the house in Tremona Road, near Southampton General Hospital , through an open window sometime between 11am and 1.30pm on Monday.
The stolen jewellery includes four yellow gold rings, two white gold rings, two pairs of yellow gold earrings, one pair of white gold earrings and two gold necklaces, one with a Buddha pendant.
Detectives are appealing for information from residents who saw anyone in the area acting suspiciously or looking carefully at houses, and want to hear from anyone with external CCTV on their property.
Detective Constable John Goulbourne said: “We have seen an increase in the theft of gold jewellery during burglaries in this area. We would advise residents who have such items to keep them in a secure place, such as a safety deposit box, outside the home.
“And we need to repeat the message to residents to ensure that all doors and windows are locked when they leave home.”
Anyone with information about the burglary or who has been offered items similar to the stolen property should call DC Goulbourne at Shirley CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
